Well, I guess the cat is out of the bag now...
Shannon was out scrapbooking with her family this last weekend and had the chance to share the good news with everybody. Since everybody in our families know the good news now, we can break it to those who don't know yet.
We're having a baby!!! A girl!!!
Not the conventional way though (that explains the girl in our photo). The woman in the picture is named Alethia "Ally" and she has come into our lives quite quickly. She is now over 32.5 weeks pregnant, and is expected to give birth close to July 10th. She found our adoption profile on LDS Family Services website since we are going through them for our adoption work. Just as we were really getting down about our situation, she wrote us an email that would change our lives.
We have gotten to know Ally very well and talk to her very often. She is an intelligent woman who knows what she wants out of life. She has a great support system around her, and we are greatful for that. We flew her up to our home a couple of weeks ago to get to know our families and see where we live. While that was a very busy time, we had a chance to get to know her more than we ever could just over the phone or just by visiting her. While she was here, we decided a name for the baby. It will be: Maddy Jane. We wanted to incorporate Ally in that process, so the baby's middle name is also Ally's. We are going to California to meet her family and spend a little time with her this next weekend. It should be very hot and fun.
When Ally gives birth, we will have to stay down in California for 2 weeks while paperwork is being taken care of. After that we will be able to bring Maddy home and start our family at home. We will continue to have an open relationship adoption with Ally. She will know what Maddy is up to and have the chance to visit at least once a year if she wants to.
Anyways, that is our good news. Better than good, it's a miracle. We are thankful for Ally and the choices she is making to provide her daughter with something that she wants her to have so badly. Our Father in Heaven has blessed us beyond what we could have hoped for.
